The parades of flower-covered floats among the cherry blossoms of Vignola
When the valley's cherry trees are adorned in white and pink, Vignola celebrates its most beloved event: the Cherry Blossom Festival. Born in 1970, it is today one of the most cherished spring events in the entire Province of Modena and Emilia-Romagna, capable of transforming the historic center into a grand stage of colors, scents, and rural traditions. The heart of the festival is the parades of allegorical floats, authentic ephemeral works of art entirely covered in fresh flowers, the result of months of work by local groups and volunteers.
The float parades, some during the day and others at night, traverse the city's avenues accompanied by live music, bands, folklore groups, and the elegant vintage cars of the Classic Club Vignola. It is the spectacle the public most eagerly awaits: dozens of floats parade slowly, revealing surprising floral compositions, in a triumph of petals that also testifies to the floricultural and cherry-growing vocation of this corner of the Municipality of Vignola.
Alongside the parades, the festival hosts the historic 'Valle dei Ciliegi' Market Exhibition, a showcase of the region's artisanal, industrial, and food excellences, set up near the old market in Viale Mazzini. The setting includes themed markets such as Art & Ingenuity and the Unusual Market, exhibitions by florists and nursery gardeners, food stalls with typical Emilian products, and numerous initiatives for families and children.
The event also offers immersive experiences among the blooming rows: the food and wine walk 'De-Gusta Vignola', which combines walking and tasting local products, and 'Plant Crossing', an afternoon for exchanging plants, seeds, and cuttings for gardening enthusiasts. Amidst vintage car rallies, entertainment, music, and gastronomy, the Cherry Blossom Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover Vignola at its most picturesque time of year, when the renowned town of IGP cherries welcomes spring.
The 2026 edition, the 55th of the event, enlivened Vignola from April 11 to 19 with a rich program over two weekends. There were four parades of flower-covered allegorical floats: two afternoon events on Sundays and two spectacular night parades on Saturdays. Accompanying the floats were live music, bands, and vintage cars from the Classic Club Vignola.
On April 11, the 44th 'Valle dei Ciliegi' Market Exhibition was inaugurated at the old market in Viale Mazzini, with the Castelvetro Band, while throughout the period, the avenues were colored with "Vignola Fiorita," themed markets, food stalls, and activities for families and children.
In April, over several days spread across two weekends. The float parades take place on weekends, some at night.
