Three days of devotion and festivities at the Marian Sanctuary of Grumo Nevano
The Celebrations in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Good Counsel are the most anticipated devotional event of the year in Grumo Nevano, a town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania. The heart of the celebrations is the Diocesan Marian Sanctuary of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio, located on Via Madonna del Buon Consiglio, a place of worship deeply cherished by the local community and a destination for pilgrims from neighboring towns in the northern Naples area.
The festival spans three days marked by Eucharistic celebrations and prayer services dedicated to the Mother of Good Counsel. Alongside the religious dimension, the evenings open up to conviviality with musical entertainment and tastings of local culinary delights: an opportunity to bring families, youth, and the elderly together around the Sanctuary square, where devotion blends with village festivities.
The parish community of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio is deeply rooted in the fabric of Grumo Nevano. In 2025, by decree of the Bishop of Aversa, Monsignor Angelo Spinillo, and at the request of the rector, Father Raffaele Pagano, the parish received the prestigious title of Diocesan Marian Sanctuary, a recognition that strengthened the bond between the town and its venerated image of the Madonna. The Marian image itself, crowned in 2024 twenty years after its creation, remains at the center of the cult and the festivities.
The three days of festivities are part of a broader calendar of spiritual appointments that accompanies the community during the spring period. Highlights include the Solemn Eucharist presided over by the Bishop and the supplication to the Blessed Virgin of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii, moments that confirm the vitality of Marian devotion in Grumo Nevano.
Like many patronal and Marian festivals in Southern Italy, the celebrations in honor of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio are much more than a religious anniversary: they are a collective rite that renews the identity of the Grumo Nevano community every year. Between celebrations, music, and local flavors, the festival offers visitors to the Naples metropolitan area an authentic glimpse into the popular traditions of Campania.
From May 29 to 31, 2026, Grumo Nevano experienced three days of devotion and celebration around the Diocesan Marian Sanctuary of the Madonna del Buon Consiglio. Eucharistic celebrations marked each day, while the evenings offered entertainment with music and tastings of local gastronomic specialties. This edition continued the devotional calendar that began on April 26 with the Eucharist presided over by the Bishop of Aversa, Monsignor Angelo Spinillo.
