A Historic and Charitable Festival
In Pietracatella, a village in the Fortore area of the province of Campobasso, the Cavatelli Festival is one of the most established gastronomic events of the summer. Organized by the parish Caritas and reaching its 26th edition in 2025, the festival combines fine food with a strong charitable dimension: the proceeds support charity work for the local community.
Handmade Cavatelli
The stars of the evening, in Piazza Santa Maria, are the handmade cavatelli, a typical pasta from Molise, served with sausage, rustic potatoes, roasted corn on the cob, fried dough, local wine, and beer. "Every dish is prepared with care and passion," emphasize the organizers, "and the proceeds support charity work for our region.".
Folk Music and Tradition
Accompanying the dinner is Molisan folk music, with groups like the trio "A Jatte du Conte" offering songs, dances, and stories from tradition, featuring vocals, accordion, and bagpipes. The Cavatelli Festival is thus much more than a gastronomic event: it is a moment of meeting, celebration, and solidarity that brings together residents and visitors in the heart of Pietracatella's summer.
Cavatelli Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Cavatelli Festival, organized by the parish Caritas of Pietracatella, will again feature the formula that has made it a historic event in the village: handmade cavatelli and typical products from Molise, folk music, and a charitable purpose, with proceeds destined for local charity work. The date, usually around August 10th, will be confirmed by the organizers.

The exact date and program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the parish Caritas in the weeks prior. Usual structure of the evening (in the evening, from around 8:00 PM, in Piazza Santa Maria):
- Opening of stalls with handmade cavatelli, sausage, rustic potatoes, roasted corn on the cob, fried dough, local wine, and beer
- Molisan folk music with traditional groups (songs, dances, and stories)
- Proceeds donated to charity work for the community
