The autumn wine festival in Castelnuovo della Daunia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
When autumn arrives in the Monti Dauni, Castelnuovo della Daunia opens the doors of its historic center for CastelnuoVino, the festival celebrating local wines and traditional flavors. The village's narrow streets and squares, with Via Roma as its beating heart, transform into a tasting trail where visitors stroll from stall to stall, glass in hand, amidst the scents of grape must, local products, and Apulian cuisine.
The event is organized entirely by the Pro Loco G.B. Trotta APS of Castelnuovo della Daunia, in collaboration with UNPLI, Pro Loco d'Italia, and the Borghi Autentici d'Italia circuit, with the patronage of the Municipality. It is a festival created by the village for the village and its visitors: a way to rediscover the historic center of this small town in the Monti Dauni, in the hinterland of the Foggia province, far from the beaten paths of Apulia.
The common thread is the wine from local wineries, which can be savored alongside typical specialties: taralli, baked goods, cheeses, and dishes from the Daunian peasant tradition. The tastings are accompanied by live folk music, with folk groups enlivening the evenings, and re-enactment moments such as the flag-wavers' parade. There are also activities designed for children, with workshops dedicated to culinary traditions and creativity, as well as guided tours of the village to discover the corners, alleys, and views of Castelnuovo.
CastelnuoVino is the ideal opportunity to experience the authenticity of a Monti Dauni village during one of the most evocative seasons of the year. Those who love slow tourism, good wine, and the convivial atmosphere of village festivals will find this a perfect stop: unpretentious, substantial, and filled with the genuineness of a community that welcomes you with warmth. A small but great event that tells the story of the most intimate and least touristy side of Apulia.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet released the dates and program for the 2026 edition of CastelnuoVino. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to return in October to the historic center of Castelnuovo della Daunia, along Via Roma, with the usual trail of food and wine stalls dedicated to wines from local wineries and the flavors of the Daunian tradition. To find out the official dates and program, it is best to follow the channels of the Pro Loco G.B. Trotta APS.
