About Castello diVino

Castello diVino is the food and wine festival that brings the medieval village of Capraia Fiorentina to life every year. Located in the municipality of Capraia e Limite, in the province of Florence, the event transforms the ancient castle walls and village squares into a vibrant hub of local winery tasting stands, guided tastings, a farmers' market, traditional specialties, live music, and art exhibitions. It is a perfect opportunity to discover the wines of the Montalbano region while strolling through a charming village that still preserves its 11th-century fortifications.

A night of wine and tradition in the heart of Montalbano

Castello diVino is the food and wine event that turns the medieval village of Capraia Fiorentinaโ€”a district of the Municipality of Capraia e Limite (Florence)โ€”into a journey of taste and culture. The festival takes place within the castle squares, where the walls date back to around the year 1000, showcasing the region's finest offerings: local winery labels, traditional products, and artisanal agricultural crafts from the Montalbano area.

The star of the show: Wine

The heart of the festival is Piazza Pucci, where local wineries set up their tasting stands. Visitors can sample and learn about local wines while moving freely between stations. Throughout the evening, guided tastings offer deeper insights into the region's winemaking culture. Capraia e Limite is part of the Montalbano area, a land of vine- and olive-covered hills between the Arno River and Pistoia. The event is organized in collaboration with the Montalbano Oil and Wine Route Association.

Flavors, farmers' market, and art

Beyond wine, Castello diVino offers the authentic flavors of Tuscan cuisine at food stalls throughout the village, a farmers' market featuring local products, and stands from local associations. The event also features live music, art exhibitions tucked away in the alleys, and guided tours of medieval Capraia that tell the story of the castle and its surrounding territory.

A community celebration

Castello diVino is the result of a shared effort by the Municipality of Capraia e Limite, the ProLoco, the Capraia in Festa committee, and numerous local associations, alongside the participating wineries. Over time, it has become one of the most anticipated spring and early summer events in Capraia e Limite, successfully blending the promotion of the village and the Tuscan Montalbano region with the joy of conviviality.

When and where

The festival takes place in the medieval village of Capraia Fiorentina, in the Municipality of Capraia e Limite (FI), typically starting in the late afternoon. To facilitate access to the historic center, a free shuttle service runs from the valley floor parking area.
