A week of art, music, sport, and local flavors in Cassano Spinola and Gavazzana
The Cassano Art and Culture Week is the flagship cultural event of the Municipality of Cassano Spinola, in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont. For seven days, the town and its hamlet of Gavazzana transform into a sprawling stage: squares, churches, schools, cellars, and streets host concerts, book launches, performances, street food, and sporting initiatives, in a calendar designed for all ages.
Founded just a few years ago, the event has found a precise identity: that of a Green Week that intertwines the enhancement of the hilly Novese landscape with the cultural and social promotion of the Cassano community. Each edition revolves around a thematic thread and is divided into dedicated days, ranging from music to gastronomy, sports to literature, and shows designed for the little ones.
One of the most characteristic aspects is the link with the local music scene, starting with the Gavazzana Blues festival and the collaboration with the Festival ECHOS, which brings great chamber music to the evocative setting of the Church of San Pietro. Alongside the high-profile events, there are more popular evenings, with street food organized by the Pro Loco, live entertainment, and local dance schools.
The Week also highlights the sporting vocation of these lands, which are deeply connected to cycling: Cassano Spinola is just a stone's throw from Castellania Coppi, the birthplace of the legendary Fausto Coppi. There is no shortage of time trials, group bike rides, and walks connecting the two villages, in a widespread tribute to cycling culture.
Organized with the patronage of the Municipality of Cassano Spinola and the support of local associations and Pro Loco, the festival is designed as a moment of shared celebration, capable of attracting visitors from across the Novese and Alessandria areas. It is an ideal opportunity to discover an authentic corner of lower Piedmont, among hills, vineyards, and small villages.
The fifth edition, dedicated to the theme "Strolling between Cassano Spinola and Gavazzana for Beauty and Knowledge", offered a week packed with events designed as a Green Week. From the singer-songwriter music of the Gavazzana Blues festival and the Festival ECHOS to street food evenings, from literary presentations to tributes to cycling and Fausto Coppi, the program combined culture, sport, and social life along the hills of the Novese, in the province of Alessandria.
Events take place between Cassano Spinola and the hamlet of Gavazzana (province of Alessandria, Piedmont), in various locations: Piazza XXVI Aprile, Piazza Indipendenza, the Church of San Pietro, schools, and cellars.
Cassano Spinola can be reached by car from the Novi Ligure (A7) or Tortona (A7/A21) motorway exits. The reference railway station is Cassano Spinola, on the line connecting Novi Ligure to Arquata Scrivia.
