A festival uniting faith and tradition

In Cermenate, in the province of Como, the Polenta Festival and Feast of the Crucifix has been an event intertwining religious devotion with the conviviality of the table for over fifty years. The festival, organized by the Parish of Saints Vito and Modesto, takes place on the third weekend of September and represents one of the most heartfelt moments for the Cermenate community.

Polenta takes center stage

The gastronomic heart of the festival is polenta, served in all its variations alongside typical Larian traditional dishes. The kitchen is set up in a large tent in Piazza Donatori di Sangue, the market square, where families and groups of friends gather to savor the authentic flavors of the region. It's an opportunity to rediscover simple, genuine cuisine, linked to the agricultural history of the Como Brianza area.

The Feast of the Crucifix

Alongside the festival, the event maintains its religious soul with the Feast of the Crucifix, which includes a solemn mass celebrated in the church of San Vincenzo, in the hamlet of Parmunt. This link between the moment of faith and the festive occasion is the most authentic characteristic of the event, embodying the spirit of Lombard parish festivals.

Half a century of history

With over fifty-five editions behind it, the Cermenate Polenta Festival is a well-established tradition in the Como autumn calendar. An event that every September renews the bond between the parish, the community, and the territory, offering residents and visitors days of celebration focused on good food and conviviality.
