Three days of tattoos, art, and entertainment at the A1Expò in San Marco Evangelista
The Caserta Tattoo Convention is one of Italy's most popular gatherings dedicated to the art of tattooing. It takes place in the town of San Marco Evangelista, in the province of Caserta, at the A1Expò exhibition center on Viale delle Industrie 10, just a stone's throw from the Caserta Sud motorway exit. For three days, the halls are filled with workstations, buzzing machines, portfolios to browse, and enthusiasts arriving from all over Campania and neighboring regions.
The heart of the event is the work of the tattoo artists: the tenth-anniversary edition featured over 350 national and international artists engaged in live sessions, consultations, and meet-and-greets. Visitors can observe diverse techniques up close, compare styles, book a session, or simply chat with an artist they have been following on social media. It is also a professional development opportunity, featuring exhibitors of equipment, inks, and skincare products.
Each day concludes with the contest awards, categorized to showcase every school of contemporary tattooing. Categories range from small pieces and lettering to major styles like traditional, blackwork, Chicano, black & grey, realism, color, Japanese, and anime/cartoon interpretations, culminating in the final Best of Show award. The jury evaluates pieces created during the convention in front of the audience—a highly anticipated moment that turns the fair into a true stage.
Alongside the tattoo booths, a packed entertainment program has made the event popular even outside the industry circle: burlesque shows, magic and illusionist acts, live music, and DJ sets keep the crowd entertained until late. The experience is completed by a writing area dedicated to street art, an art exhibition, and a food & beverage zone to relax between pavilions.
The convention is the brainchild of Federico Pilerci, founder of the Non Solo Tattoo studio in Caserta, who has helped the city become one of Italy's key reference points for the tattoo world. It is a fascinating example of a grassroots event that has grown into an internationally recognized gathering, attracting artists from Europe, the Americas, and Asia to a part of Campania better known for the Royal Palace of Caserta and its Bourbon heritage than for contemporary urban culture.
The event is traditionally held in spring, during the month of April, over a long weekend from Friday to Sunday. Opening hours cover the entire day, with the venue open to the public until late at night: this makes it easy to plan either a quick visit or a full three-day stay, perhaps combining the fair with a trip around the Caserta area.
From Friday, April 10 to Sunday, April 12, 2026, the A1Expò exhibition center on Viale delle Industrie 10, in San Marco Evangelista (Caserta Sud), hosted the tenth edition of the Caserta Tattoo Convention. Three days dedicated to creativity, style, and artistic innovation, with over 350 national and international artists engaged in live work sessions, public meetings, and contests.
The hallmark of this edition was the completely free entry, chosen by the organization to celebrate the ten years of the event and to make it accessible to the widest possible audience. The doors remained open from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Friday and from 11:00 AM to 10:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday.
Each day featured its own competition categories and award ceremonies, from lettering and Japanese styles to the final Best of Show. Alongside the contests, the program offered burlesque and magic shows, live music and DJ sets, a dedicated writing area, an art exhibition, and a food & beverage zone. The event was conceived by Federico Pilerci, founder of the Non Solo Tattoo studio in Caserta.
Over 350 Italian and international tattoo artists worked live at the fair's booths, alongside exhibitors from the industry.
The A1Expò exhibition center is located at Viale delle Industrie 10 in San Marco Evangelista (CE), just a few hundred meters from the Caserta Sud exit of the A1 Milan-Naples motorway. By train, the reference station is Caserta, which is frequently connected to Naples; from the station, you can continue by taxi or local bus toward the industrial area. From Naples Capodichino Airport, it takes about 30 minutes by car.
The exhibition area has ample parking space; during peak times, especially Saturday afternoon, it is advisable to arrive early.
Caserta city, just a few kilometers away, offers hotels and B&Bs in every price range and is the ideal base to combine the convention with a visit to the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Belvedere of San Leucio, and the medieval village of Casertavecchia.
