The parade with the Count and Countess through the village streets
In the heart of the Piedmontese winter, Casalborgone—a small town in the Po Hills, within the Metropolitan City of Turin—dresses up for its Carnival, one of the most cherished events on the local calendar. Organized by the Pro Loco Casalborgone APS with the patronage of the Municipality, the event draws residents and visitors from neighboring towns for a Sunday filled with color, music, and tradition.
At the heart of the festivities are the town's historic masks, the Count and Countess of Casalborgone, figures who for years have embodied the jovial and popular spirit of the hilltop Carnival. They lead the parade, accompanied by local authorities, costumed groups, and guest masks from the surrounding Chivasso and Turin Monferrato areas.
In the afternoon, the grand parade kicks off through the streets of the historic center: allegorical floats, confetti, costumes, and the marching band bring the town squares to life in a festive procession designed especially for families and children. The route winds through the hilltop village to the heart of the community, in an atmosphere of joy that has always been the hallmark of the local Piedmontese Carnival.
As per the tradition of Piedmontese village festivals, the Casalborgone Carnival includes a convivial highlight: the distribution of polenta and stew and the polentata at the Pro Loco headquarters, offering participants the authentic flavors of local cuisine in a spirit of sharing.
More than just a parade, the Casalborgone Carnival represents a moment of collective identity for the community of the Turin Hills: an occasion where different generations meet in the town squares, amidst masks, music, and tradition, testifying to a popular culture that remains vibrant in the heart of Piedmont.
On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Casalborgone celebrated its Carnival with the usual parade of allegorical floats and costumed groups through the streets of the center, opened by the Count and Countess of Casalborgone. The marching band accompanied the procession, while the Pro Loco Casalborgone provided the traditional convivial moments of the day. A festival designed for families and children, in the spirit of the popular tradition of the Po Hills.
Casalborgone is located about 20 km northeast of Turin, in the Po Hills. By car, it can be reached from Turin or Chivasso by following the provincial hill roads; parking is available near the center.
The parade traditionally takes place on Sunday afternoon, starting in the early afternoon from the streets of the town center.
The event is free and open to everyone. Gastronomic events (polenta, polentata) are organized by the Pro Loco.
