An afternoon of masks, music, and entertainment in Piazza Mazzini
When February arrives, Piazza Mazzini in Mercato Saraceno fills with confetti, masks, and music. The Carnival Festival is one of the most beloved events for families in the town, a free outdoor event that enlivens the historic center of this Municipality in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna, along the Savio valley.
The afternoon is built around the children: entertainment, baby dance, group dances, interactive games, and bubble shows transform the square into a large play area. There is also a wooden play area and a face painting space, where the little ones can complete their costumes. It's a local carnival, simple and genuine, where the goal is to be together and have fun outdoors.
As the hours pass, the party changes pace: the DJ set begins, and Piazza Mazzini transforms into a real outdoor dance floor. The refreshment stand offers typical flavors of the carnival season, from sweets to local specialties, accompanied by hot chocolate and mulled wine to warm up the winter afternoon. The grand finale is the award for the best costume, chosen by a jury from the most original outfits.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Mercato Saraceno in collaboration with the Pro Loco, an organization that has been curating the main events on the town's calendar for years, from the May Fair to summer festivals. The Carnival is part of this tradition of popular events that keep the community alive and enhance the town's public spaces.
As it is an outdoor event, in case of rain or bad weather, the party is moved indoors to the Maverik, at via Giuseppe Verdi 12, to ensure entertainment and fun for participants.
