The Carnival for children and families in the heart of Rivergaro
Carnevale in Piazza is the event that transforms the center of Rivergaro, a charming town on the Trebbia river in the province of Piacenza, into a large play area for children every year. Promoted by the historic Pro Loco Tramballando, the event brings masks, streamers, and lots of entertainment to the town's streets, confirming a tradition much loved by families from all over Val Trebbia and the Piacentino area.
The heart of the event is Piazza Paolo Araldi, which fills with colors and laughter for two February afternoons. The event starts at 4:00 PM, when the square comes alive with a packed program of activities designed for children and their companions. It's a simple and popular festival, without spectacular pretensions but capable of attracting numerous participants each year, as evidenced by the confirmed success by the president of the Pro Loco, Doretta Fossati.
The program offers everything that makes a Carnival afternoon unforgettable for children:
All activities are offered free of charge by the Pro Loco, in the spirit of a celebration open to the entire community.
Behind Carnevale in Piazza is the commitment of Pro Loco Tramballando, an association that has been a symbol of Rivergaro's life for over twenty years, organizing festivals and events throughout the year that enhance the village and its community. The Carnival represents one of the most cherished events in the winter calendar, a moment of intergenerational gathering where the square becomes the town's main living room.
Nestled along the banks of the Trebbia, Rivergaro is one of Emilia-Romagna's most popular destinations for those seeking nature, good food, and authentic traditions just a few kilometers from Piacenza. Participating in Carnevale in Piazza is also an opportunity to discover this corner of the Piacenza province, with its riverside, its town center's eateries, and the renowned hospitality of Val Trebbia.
The Carnevale in Piazza 2026 in Rivergaro offered two afternoons of celebration, Thursday, February 12th and Tuesday, February 17th, starting at 4:00 PM in Piazza Paolo Araldi. Organized by the Pro Loco Tramballando, the event featured a rich program of free entertainment: confetti, giant inflatables, a small funfair with some novelties, face painting, cotton candy, and Funtasia animation shows. Tuesday's day included a particularly appreciated treasure hunt. In case of bad weather, activities were held at the Auditorium of the Casa del Popolo, via Veneziani 64.
Program identical on both days, from 4:00 PM in Piazza Paolo Araldi:
