The grand allegorical float parade in the heart of the Asti Monferrato
In the heart of the Asti Monferrato, the Carnevale Castelnovese is one of the most beloved and eagerly awaited events in the Asti carnival calendar. Each year, the small town of Castelnuovo Belbo, in the province of Asti (Piedmont), dresses up to host its spectacular allegorical float parade, an event that draws participants and onlookers from all the neighboring villages of the Belbo and Monferrato areas.
Reaching its twenty-fifth edition in 2026, the Carnevale Castelnovese is a true community treasure: a festival that manages to reinvent itself year after year while keeping the authentic spirit of the popular carnival alive. The event is organized by the Municipality of Castelnuovo Belbo in collaboration with ASD New Castle, with the invaluable support of local volunteers and associations.
The festive afternoon comes to life with a procession winding through the town center: meticulously crafted allegorical floats, costumed groups, majorettes, music, and plenty of entertainment designed for audiences of all ages. There are also stalls featuring traditional carnival sweets, classic games, inflatables for the little ones, and the traditional pentolaccia game. The parade concludes with an awards ceremony for the most beautiful floats in Piazza Municipio.
More than just a local event, the Castelnuovo Belbo parade is a meeting point for the entire district: groups and floats from numerous municipalities in the province of Asti and beyond participate in a spirit of shared joy. A day of colors, smiles, and tradition that captures the most genuine soul of rural Piedmont.
Castelnuovo Belbo, nestled among the vine-covered hills of the Asti Monferrato, offers visitors the chance to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont, where the carnival remains a moment of community and togetherness.
