A children's carnival blending art and creative workshops in Forte dei Marmi
Carneval Art – Living Paintings is a carnival event that transforms Piazza Garibaldi, in the heart of Forte dei Marmi, into a large open-air studio. Designed primarily for children and families, the event combines carnival traditions with the discovery of contemporary and classical art through creative workshops and living installations.
The common thread of the event is a dialogue with the masters of art from every era. Young participants engage in creative workshops inspired by figures such as Banksy, Yayoi Kusama, Van Gogh, and Frida Kahlo, playfully reinterpreting the languages of street art, polka-dot art, post-impressionist painting, and portraiture. The result is a series of true living paintings, where children themselves become the protagonists of the works.
One of the most beautiful features of Carneval Art is its focus on sustainability: throughout the day, a prize for the creative reuse of materials is awarded, encouraging children and families to give new life to objects and waste by transforming them into artistic elements. An educational message that intertwines with the fun of the Carnival.
The event is part of the rich calendar of initiatives that the Municipality of Forte dei Marmi dedicates to the Carnival period, in one of the most famous locations in Versilia, in the province of Lucca, Tuscany. Just a few kilometers from the great Viareggio Carnival, Forte dei Marmi offers an intimate and family-friendly version of the festival, experienced among the squares and streets of the historic center, with the beach and the Apuan Alps as a backdrop.
Carneval Art – Living Paintings is an opportunity to discover the most authentic and creative side of the town, where art and culture have always accompanied the life of the community.
