In the heart of summer, the small town of Carbonara di Nola, in the province of Naples, transforms into a grand playing field. The District Tournament is a sporting and popular event that pits teams from the town's different neighborhoods against each other in a six-a-side football tournament, which reached its third edition in 2026. Born from the initiative of local enthusiasts, the event has grown year after year to become one of the most cherished sporting and social appointments in the entire Nola area.

Districts on the pitch

The format is simple and engaging: each district fields its own team, consisting of six players on the pitch and a total squad of eight to twelve members. Matches are played in the evening, under the floodlights, with a schedule that follows the teams all the way to the grand final. In the 2026 edition, it was Via Annunziata and Masseria Battaglia that battled for the title in the final act, in front of stands packed with hundreds of spectators.

Much more than a match

Beyond the result, the District Tournament is above all an occasion for gathering. Every evening becomes an opportunity for friends, families, and fans to meet, filling the stands of the Sporting Club Della Gala to support their neighborhood's colors. Children, young people, and adults experience a true town festival together, where competition coexists with friendship and community spirit.

A sign of openness

The 2026 edition also left its mark with an important innovation: for the first time in the tournament's history, the final was officiated by a female referee, a gesture interpreted as a sign of openness, inclusion, and the recognition of talent. At the end of the event, the top three teams are awarded, along with individual honors for the top scorer, best goalkeeper, and best player of the tournament.
