An evening of sport in the center of Capurso

Capurso in Corsa is the annual running event that, every mid-June, transforms the streets of Capurso—a town in the Metropolitan City of Bari, Puglia—into a 10-kilometer course. It is a competitive road race, open to both FIDAL-registered athletes and amateur runners, starting in the late afternoon to take advantage of the cool Apulian evening air. The race is now a well-established tradition in the Bari provincial running calendar and serves as one of the stages of the Trofeo Terra di Bari, a circuit featuring fifteen road races held throughout the season.

The route and the connection to the Sanctuary

The starting line and the finish are located at the foot of the Reale Basilica Santuario Maria SS. del Pozzo, the symbolic monument of Capurso and a deeply revered pilgrimage site in the Terra di Bari region. The route winds through the town's urban fabric, passing the Villa Comunale, Parco Pertini, the gardens of Largo San Francesco da Paola, the Mother Church of San Giuseppe, the Town Hall, and stretches of the Capurso countryside, before leading runners back to the Sanctuary square. This format perfectly blends the competitive spirit of the race with the identity of the places most cherished by the local community.

More than just for athletes: a festival for everyone

Capurso in Corsa is not just for specialists: alongside the competitive race, there is a recreational fun run open to families and walkers, as well as initiatives dedicated to youth athletics. The event also collaborates with Capurso in Bici, an eco-friendly cycling event held the same weekend, creating a full weekend dedicated to outdoor sports and sustainable mobility in the municipality of Capurso.

A community event

The organization is managed by A.S.D. Bio Ambra New Age, a local sports association, with the support of the Municipality of Capurso and the collaboration of running clubs from the province of Bari. Year after year, the race continues to grow: recent editions have seen over five hundred finishers, with dozens of sports clubs registered and strong female participation, confirming the event's deep roots in the Apulian running scene.
