Wine, music, and health awareness at the Cantina Sociale De Gasperi in Orta Nova
Cantine in Festa is a food and wine festival held at the Cantina Sociale Alcide De Gasperi in Orta Nova, the heart of the Tavoliere delle Puglie in the province of Foggia. Launched in 2025, the festival has quickly grown into a highly anticipated late-spring event, successfully blending wine culture, fine dining, music, and a unique focus on public health.
The hallmark of Cantine in Festa is its blend of conviviality and health awareness. Alongside wine tastings and food stalls, the evening hosts the Good wine makes good blood seminar, dedicated to the relationship between diet, lifestyle, and well-being. The event also features a mobile clinic providing free cardiology check-ups and on-the-spot ECG results, as well as live demonstrations of life-saving techniques, from CPR to first aid.
The stars of the show are the wines from the Cantina Sociale De Gasperi, particularly the Falanghina I.G.P. and the Nero di Troia I.G.P., an indigenous variety that symbolizes Apulian viticulture. Numerous food stations offer local specialties, creating a culinary journey for guests throughout the evening, with hundreds of seats available in the winery's courtyard.
The festival offers plenty of entertainment: concerts featuring artists from the Neapolitan and Apulian music scenes, circus performances for children, and comedy acts make the event suitable for all ages. Admission to the winery is free, and guarded parking is available, reflecting the event's welcoming and community-oriented spirit.
Organized by the Cantina Sociale in collaboration with the local Fidas chapter and numerous volunteer associations, Cantine in Festa serves as a showcase for the community of Orta Nova and the entire Cinque Reali Siti area, where winemaking tradition becomes an opportunity for gathering, solidarity, and promoting the Daunian territory.
The 2026 edition of Cantine in Festa, the second of the event, took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Cantina Sociale Alcide De Gasperi in Orta Nova. The musical highlight of the evening was Neapolitan singer Sal Esposito, known for his collaborations with Renzo Arbore's Orchestra Italiana, in what was his only appearance in the province of Foggia with his show Napolitudine.
Alongside the music, the festival reaffirmed its commitment to solidarity with the Good wine makes good blood seminar, free cardiology check-ups, and life-saving technique demonstrations, all accompanied by local Daunian wines and food stations.
