Three days of wine, music, and food and wine in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese
Canneto Pavese, a small municipality in the province of Pavia nestled among the hills of Oltrepò Pavese, is one of those places where everything truly revolves around wine. Wineries, vineyards, winegrower families: here, wine culture is not a tourist attraction but the very fabric of daily life. The Wine Festival is the collective celebration of this vocation, the occasion when the village opens its doors and invites everyone to sit at its table.
Now in its 44th edition in 2025, the Festival is organized by the Pro Loco Canneto Pavese, an association founded in 1969 and a tireless animator of the town's life. For three days, usually in July, the streets of the historic center and the spaces of Via Roma fill with tasting booths, exhibitors, and visitors from all over the province and beyond.
The heart of the event is the tastings: the most representative wines of Oltrepò Pavese, from sparkling Bonarda to Barbera, from Pinot Nero to the classic method sparkling wines that have made this land famous. Alongside the glasses, the festival becomes convivial with the food stands offering traditional Pavia dishes.
Visiting the Wine Festival means discovering Oltrepò Pavese in its most authentic dimension: not just the wine in the glass, but the community that produces it, the legends of the Canneto hills, the landscape of rows of vines sloping down to the plain. It is a festival that combines the pleasure of food with the discovery of a territory still largely off the beaten path of mass tourism, just a few kilometers from Pavia and an hour from Milan.
The 45th Wine Festival will return to Canneto Pavese in July 2026, reprising the tried-and-tested formula that has attracted wine enthusiasts and visitors for over forty years. The precise dates and detailed program are published by the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event.
The usual format includes the opening on Friday evening with a special tasting of wines from the most representative local wineries, followed on subsequent days by tasting booths, food and wine stands, and, every evening, live music and DJ sets.
The detailed program for the 45th edition will be announced by Pro Loco Canneto Pavese in the weeks preceding the event. The usual format includes:
