The festival celebrating the PGI Italia Grape in the heart of the Agrigento region
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Canicattì Grape Festival is the autumn event that celebrates the territory's signature product: the Italia Grape, a white table variety with large, golden berries that has made this town in the hinterland of the Agrigento province, in Sicily, famous. Cultivated in these sun-drenched fields since the early 20th century, the Italia Grape of Canicattì was awarded the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status in 1997, and in 2005, a Consortium was established to protect and promote it.
The heart of the event beats between Largo Aosta and Viale Regina Margherita, in the center of Canicattì, where exhibition stands, tasting counters, and stages for performances are set up. The city streets come alive for three days, attracting visitors from across the Agrigento province and neighboring areas of south-central Sicily.
Beyond its festive atmosphere, the Grape Festival holds strong identity value: it is the moment when Canicattì renews its bond with its viticultural vocation and the producers who still tend the Italia Grape vineyards today. The event is promoted by the municipal administration together with local industry operators, with the support of the Sicilian Region, and has become a staple in the autumn calendar of the Agrigento area as one of the most cherished food and wine festivals in the region.
The Grape Festival is traditionally held in October, during the late harvest period of the Italia Grape, when the berries reach full ripeness. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Canicattì for updates.
