Candlelight Syracuse: Live music by candlelight

Candlelight Syracuse is the local edition of the international Candlelight format, conceived in the United States and managed globally by the Fever platform since 2014. The concept is simple yet evocative: bringing live music performed by professional musicians to iconic venues illuminated by thousands of candles, far from traditional concert halls. In Syracuse, in the heart of southeastern Sicily, the event has found its home at Il Faraone, a venue with a spacious garden and a spectacular view of Ortigia and the Gulf of Syracuse.

A repertoire of classical, soundtracks, and tributes

The strength of Candlelight lies in the variety of its program. The Syracuse evenings alternate between homages to great composers and tributes to pop and rock music rearranged for an acoustic setting. Highlights of the series include the tribute to Ennio Morricone, featuring unforgettable soundtracks from "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Cinema Paradiso," as well as the homage to Queen and Freddie Mercury. The calendar also features tributes to Coldplay and Imagine Dragons, the minimalist elegance of Ludovico Einaudi, and the epic soundtracks of Hans Zimmer.

The atmosphere at Il Faraone

Each concert lasts approximately 65 minutes and takes place outdoors under the summer sky of Syracuse. Doors open thirty minutes before the start, and late entry is not permitted. The combination of the warm candlelight, the panorama of the island of Ortigia, and the live performance creates an intimate, cozy experience, quite different from large outdoor concerts. It is an event that has particularly captured a young audience, drawn by the elegant atmosphere and the quality of the musical selection.

Candlelight in Sicily

Syracuse is one of the Sicilian stops on the Candlelight circuit, which also reaches Catania and Acireale (Villa La Limonaia) in Sicily. The series thus places the city, already famous for its Greek Theatre and the UNESCO heritage of Ortigia, on the international calendar of candlelit events held in over one hundred cities worldwide. For the Sicily Region and cultural tourism in the province of Syracuse, it is an additional opportunity to enjoy the summer with live music.
