The summer program of Campobello di Licata, featuring concerts, theater, cabaret, and Sicilian traditions
The Campobello Summer Festival is the major event series that brings Campobello di Licata to life every year. Located in the Province of Agrigento, the town sits on a plateau in the Salso River valley, about 30 kilometers from the Valley of the Temples. For over a month and a half, from the second half of July to early September, the historic center's squares transform into open-air stages, with a program that changes almost every night, blending popular entertainment, culture, and tradition.
The beauty of the Campobello Summer Festival lies in its variety: the calendar features a mix of pop and singer-songwriter concerts, cabaret nights, theatrical plays, art exhibitions, book presentations, cultural conferences, sports events, and moments dedicated to children and families. The festival is curated by the Municipal Administration and spreads across the town's most iconic squares, from Piazza XX Settembre to Piazza Aldo Moro, and from Piazza Marconi to the evocative Valle delle Pietre Dipinte.
Among all the events, the Rietina is the one that best captures the identity of Campobello di Licata: a parade of caparisoned horses and decorated Sicilian carts, accompanied by the re-enactment of ancient trades. It is a tribute to the peasant and artisan culture of the Agrigento hinterland, experienced by the entire community on the evenings of late August.
Founded at the end of the 17th century by Baron Raimondo Raimondetta, Campobello di Licata holds a strong devotion to its patron saint, Saint John the Baptist, celebrated on June 24th with a solemn mass and a procession of the statue. The Campobello Summer Festival takes up the baton from the patronal celebrations to accompany the town, and those who visit it, throughout the Sicilian summer.
The Campobello Summer Festival 2026 is held from July 15 to September 6, according to the official calendar of the Municipality of Campobello di Licata. The festival confirms its multidisciplinary formula, with events spread across the historic center's squares throughout the beautiful season.
As every year, the program alternates live music, theater and cabaret, art exhibitions, cultural meetings, sports events, and food and wine trails, leading up to the most anticipated moment, the Rietina, with the parade of caparisoned horses and Sicilian carts.
The official municipal calendar sets the Campobello Summer Festival 2026 from July 15 to September 6. The detailed program of individual events (concerts, shows, evenings, and specific dates) will be released at the beginning of summer on the official channels of the Municipality of Campobello di Licata.
