A walk in the heart of the Alessandria Monferrato

In Mirabello Monferrato, a small town in the Province of Alessandria nestled among the hills of the Lower Piedmontese Monferrato, one of the most appreciated stages of the Camminare il Monferrato series returns every year. It is an event designed for those who love to discover the territory at a slow pace, away from mass tourism, immersed in the countryside, vineyards, and woods that define the hilly landscape of this UNESCO World Heritage land.

The walk is a true guided excursion of tourist difficulty, suitable for families and walkers of all levels, lasting about two and a half hours. The meeting point is set in Piazza della Libertà, in the town center, where the mayor welcomes participants before the start.

The route among parish churches, sanctuaries, and white roads

The itinerary winds along the white roads that cross the Valle Grana, towards the neighboring towns of Lu and Conzano and the Campostrina area. Along the way, you will encounter places of great historical and spiritual charm: the Convent and Sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve, the ancient Parish Church of San Giovanni in Mediliano, a rural building constructed between the 7th and 9th centuries, and the hilltop village of Conzano. The route also touches Colle Firata, offering beautiful views of the Monferrato hills, and ancient local farmhouses before returning to Mirabello.

The group is always accompanied by a guide who explains the history, architecture, and traditions of the places visited: the walk is not just an outdoor activity, but also an opportunity to learn about the rural and religious heritage of Monferrato.

A series that tells the story of a territory

The Mirabello stage is part of the Camminare il Monferrato calendar, promoted by the Monferrato municipalities together with the Sacro Monte di Crea Reserve and under the patronage of the weekly newspaper "Il Monferrato". Every year, the series offers numerous excursions distributed between spring and autumn, each hosted by a different Monferrato municipality, with the aim of enhancing the paths, villages, and landscapes of the hilly area between the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, in Piedmont.

Participating in the Mirabello stage means experiencing a day dedicated to well-being, nature, and social interaction: at the end of the route, it is tradition to enjoy the refreshment offered by the local Pro Loco, a convivial moment that brings the walk to a beautiful close.
