A food and wine journey featuring local wines, street food, music, and street art in Margherita di Savoia
Calici Volanti is a widespread food and wine event that transforms the center of Margherita di Savoia—a town famous for its salt pans in the Barletta-Andria-Trani (BAT) province—into a long trail of flavors, music, and entertainment. The event unfolds along Corso Nunzio Ricco and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the town's two main thoroughfares, where tasting stalls, street artists, and stages keep the energy high until late at night.
Calici Volanti was born as an evening highlight of the International Kite Festival, the major event that brings kite enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad to Margherita di Savoia every spring. While the sky above the beach fills with colorful kites by day, the historic center lights up by night with this event, designed to bring the festival spirit into the town's streets, combining the tradition of flight with the excellence of Apulian cuisine.
The evening is promoted by the Paese Mio association, with the patronage of the Municipality of Margherita di Savoia, the ASBA (the association managing the Kite Festival), and the Pro Loco. Entry to the route is free: you only pay for what you choose to taste at the various food and wine stalls.
Calici Volanti is the perfect opportunity to discover Margherita di Savoia in a festive mood, surrounded by the scent of the sea, the colors of the kites, and the flavors of Puglia. It is a culinary stroll suitable for couples, families, and groups of friends in the heart of one of the most characteristic villages on the Apulian coast, famous for its salt pans and thermal baths.
The third edition of Calici Volanti was held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 8:00 PM to midnight, along Corso Nunzio Ricco and Corso Vittorio Emanuele in the center of Margherita di Savoia (BT). The event was part of the evening program of the 12th International Kite Festival, taking place from April 24 to May 3, 2026.
As per tradition, the Paese Mio association set up a widespread food and wine trail dedicated to excellent wines and local street food, accompanied by live music, street art, and entertainment for children, in a festive atmosphere that brought the kite festival into the town's streets.
