Wine night under the stars of San Lorenzo in an Etna village

Calici di Stelle is the grand wine festival that, on the night of San Lorenzo, brings the historic center of Castiglione di Sicilia to life. Nestled on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in the province of Catania, it is one of Sicily's most evocative medieval villages. The event is part of a national series promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino, which every summer turns Italy's squares and wineries into meeting places for enthusiasts, producers, and curious visitors under the starry sky.
Castiglione di Sicilia boasts one of the highest concentrations of wineries in the Etna area: nearly seventy producers operate in the district, acting as guardians of native grape varieties such as Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante. It is in this unique setting, characterized by lava stone, historic palaces, and views of the volcano, that the event takes place.
Tasting stations are spread throughout the village's most iconic spots, including Piazza Lauria, Piazza Sant'Antonio, and the Castello di Lauria, home to the Regional Wine Cellar for Eastern Sicily. Sommeliers from the Italian Sommelier Association guide visitors through a tasting journey featuring white, red, and rosé wines, while music resonates through the charming corners of the ancient center.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia in collaboration with the Movimento Turismo del Vino, the Regional Wine Cellar for Eastern Sicily, and the Italian Sommelier Association, with the patronage of local GALs.
