The festival of the alpine chapel

Buncavril is the religious and gastronomic festival held at the Buncavril chapel, above the village of Bema, in the province of Sondrio. A spring event that brings the community together around a place of worship immersed in the alpine nature of the Valtellina Orobie Alps.

Mass and mountain dinner

The festival opens with the evening Holy Mass at the chapel, followed by a convivial dinner at the multi-purpose centre. The menu features traditional Valtellina dishes: polenta and kid goat, cheeses, dessert, and Valtellina DOC wine, ending with coffee. A simple and generous table, showcasing the region's mountain cuisine.

A moment of community

Organized by Pro Loco Bema, Buncavril is a quiet festival, with limited seating and mandatory reservation. It is an opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere of a small alpine village, where faith and conviviality intertwine in the rituals that mark the year.

Bema and the Orobie Alps

Bema is a village of a few hundred inhabitants, overlooking the Val Gerola and part of the Valtellina Orobie Alps Park. Festivals like Buncavril preserve its identity and deep connection with the mountains, in a little-known corner of the province of Sondrio.
