About Bruschetta Festival

In the medieval village of San Vito sul Cesano, a hamlet of San Lorenzo in Campo (Province of Pesaro and Urbino, Marche), the Bruschetta Festival takes place every summer, one of the most cherished village festivals in Valcesano. For over forty years, the San Vito Giovani Association has prepared the famous De.C.O. bruschetta, seasoned with the sweet Red Onion of Suasa and extra virgin olive oil from local producers. Three days of food stalls, music, dancing, and entertainment for all ages, amidst the streets of the medieval castle.

A village festival that smells of tradition

The Bruschetta Festival enlivens the medieval village of San Vito sul Cesano every summer, a charming hamlet in the Municipality of San Lorenzo in Campo, in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the heart of the Marche region. Nestled along the Cesano river valley, the small castle transforms for a few evenings into a large convivial gathering place, where the community welcomes visitors from all over Valcesano and beyond.

The event has been running for over forty years: since the 1990s, it has been organized by the San Vito Giovani Association, which works each year to make the festival more beautiful and engaging, in collaboration with the municipal administration of San Lorenzo in Campo.

De.C.O. Bruschetta and the Red Onion of Suasa

The absolute star is the bruschetta, which has obtained the De.C.O. (Municipal Denomination of Origin) recognition. It is prepared with local bread, abundant extra virgin olive oil from local producers, and the Red Onion of Suasa, a specialty with a sweet and delicate flavor that characterizes this area of Valcesano. Various versions can be tasted at the stalls: the classic, the tricolore, the Mediterranean, and the rustic.

Alongside the bruschetta, the food stalls offer other traditional Marche dishes, including:

  • homemade tagliatelle;
  • beans with pork rind;
  • piadine and sandwiches;
  • fried potatoes;
  • local traditional desserts.

Music, dancing, and entertainment

The festival is not just about food: on weekend evenings, the atmosphere comes alive with live music and dancing in the village squares. The mornings are dedicated to fun for all ages, with games and entertainment that evoke the spirit of the historic "Sanvitiadi," the light-hearted competitions dear to the San Vito community.

A village to discover

The Bruschetta Festival is also the perfect opportunity to visit San Vito sul Cesano, an ancient medieval village perched on the Marche hills. Among alleys, walls, and panoramic views of the valley, the festival combines the pleasure of good food with the rediscovery of a small gem in the hinterland of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.
