The open-air cinema series in the hamlets of Trecastelli
With the arrival of summer, the Municipality of Trecastelli (province of Ancona, Marche) lights up its outdoor screens with Cinesuonando Sotto le Stelle, the cinema under the stars series that animates the evenings of June, July, and August each year. The formula is what has made the event successful: no single venue, but a traveling cinema that moves from hamlet to hamlet, bringing screenings to the heart of the local communities.
Trecastelli was formed in 2014 from the merger of the municipalities of Ripe, Monterado, and Castel Colonna, and this plural identity is reflected in the very spirit of the series. Each evening takes place in a different hamlet, transforming squares, parks, and multi-purpose courts into open-air arenas: Brugnetto, Castel Colonna, Ripe, Passo Ripe, Monterado, and Ponte Rio. It's a way to enhance every corner of the Municipality and to offer all residents, even those in the smallest locations, the chance to gather under the same sky.
The film selection favors animated cinema and major titles for all ages, with particular attention to younger audiences. Between comedies, adventures, and recent family cinema classics, the evenings become an anticipated event for local families and for those spending the summer in the hills of the Ancona hinterland. Admission is always free.
Cinesuonando Sotto le Stelle is the heart of the Municipality's summer program, which also includes concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, and creative workshops for children distributed throughout the season. The series is promoted by the Trecastelli Municipal Administration and the Department of Culture, with the support of local associations. For visitors, it's the perfect opportunity to discover the villages of the Val Misa and Val Nevola, a few kilometers from the coast of Senigallia.
The 2026 series confirms its traveling format: six evenings, six different hamlets, all with free admission. The open-air cinema is part of the Municipality of Trecastelli's summer program, called "Trecastelli in Estate 2026 - Programmi a matita," which complements the screenings with concerts, theater performances, and workshops for children throughout the season.
The film selection favors animation and family-oriented titles, with screenings held in the squares and parks of the hamlets after dark.
