The festival of brodetto and seafood cuisine on the Lido di Fano
BrodettoFest is the great festival that every year, between late May and early June, enlivens the Lido di Fano, on the Adriatic Riviera in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. For four days, the seafront transforms into a village of taste dedicated to 'brodetto alla fanese', the famous fish soup that tells the maritime soul of the city. Showcooking, tastings, concerts, scientific talks, and family activities coexist in a program that exceeds fifty events, almost all with free admission.
The brodetto was born as a poor dish of fishermen, prepared with unsold fish and cooked on board or on the beach. From a simple recovery recipe, it has become one of the gastronomic symbols of Fano and its deep connection with the Adriatic. BrodettoFest, reaching its twenty-fourth edition in 2026, enhances this heritage by combining food culture, territorial identity, and environmental awareness.
The heart of the event is the national fish soup competition: professional chefs and amateur cooks compete in several rounds, judged by a jury of experts in the food and wine sector and hosted by a master of ceremonies. Each region brings its own version of the soup, from 'cacciucco' to 'brodetto', in a comparison that showcases the richness of Italian seafood cuisine.
Every evening, the central stage of the Lido hosts a major free concert with artists from the Italian scene. Alongside the music, there is:
An ancient Roman colony (Fanum Fortunae), Fano is today one of the most vibrant seaside resorts in the Marche. During BrodettoFest, its seafront becomes the showcase of a maritime culture made of nets, fish markets, and traditional cuisine. The event is promoted by Confesercenti of Pesaro and Urbino with the patronage of the Municipality of Fano and the Marche Region, and is now an eagerly awaited event for food lovers, families, and tourists.
From May 30 to June 2, 2026, the Lido di Fano hosted the twenty-fourth edition of BrodettoFest, with over fifty events including cooking shows, tastings, boat trips, and scientific talks about the sea.
The competition was divided into four rounds between May 31 and June 1, featuring chefs such as Antonio Montebelli, Giuseppe Bizioli, Michael Baccani, Riccardo Cattalani, Giovanni Martelli, Maurizio Criscuolo, and Fabio Sparvieri. The jury included, among others, Sonia Peronaci and Igles Corelli, with Andrea Amadei as host.
The central stage featured performances by Extraliscio (May 30), the Musicamdo Jazz Orchestra with Alessandra Doria (May 31), Karima (June 1), and Eugenio Finardi (June 2). Also on the program were cooking shows with Luca Pappagallo, the taste village, Brodetto&Wine, and Brodetto&Kids.
