Folk music and world culture festival in the village of Boville Ernica
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every summer, Boville Etnica brings the historic center of Boville Ernica, in the province of Frosinone, to life with two days dedicated to folk music, traditional dance, and ethnic cultures from around the world. Established in the early 2000s, the festival has become one of the most anticipated events of the Ciociaria summer: the village's squares and cloisters turn into open-air stages where tambourines, accordions, pizzica, and Mediterranean rhythms blend with world music sounds.
The setting is one of the Borghi piรน belli d'Italia (Most Beautiful Villages in Italy): medieval alleys, churches, and panoramic views of the Liri Valley provide a natural backdrop for the evening concerts. Strolling between the stages set up in the historic center is an experience in itself, with music accompanying the audience from one corner of the village to the other until late at night.
Boville Etnica is not just about listening; it is about participation. Throughout the event, workshops are held on folk and ethnic dance, accordion, and tambourine, open to musicians, enthusiasts, and anyone curious about oral tradition music. The evenings are dedicated to concerts featuring prominent artists from the Italian folk scene and international guests. Past editions have hosted names such as Enzo Avitabile, Kalascima, Hevia, Carlos Nรบรฑez, and Bombino.
Alongside the concerts, the festival features a market with food stalls where you can savor local products and traditional Ciociarian dishes. Food thus becomes another way to tell the story of the region, through wine, local specialties, and conviviality.
With free admission to concerts, a festive atmosphere, and a desire to get the crowd dancing, Boville Etnica is an event designed for all ages. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a charming village in southern Lazio and lose yourself in the irresistible rhythms of folk music.
