The grand June 21st celebration at the Vesuvius National Park Museum amphitheatre
Every June 21st, on the summer solstice, Boscoreale joins the Festa della Musica, the European event that has been lighting up cities and towns with free, widespread concerts since 1982. In this Vesuvian town, in the Province of Naples, the festival finds an exceptional setting: the evocative amphitheatre of the Vesuvius National Park Museum, a small open-air venue at the foot of the volcano that becomes a stage for an evening dedicated primarily to the youth.
The hallmark of the Boscoreale event is the central role played by the music-oriented schools of the district. Student orchestras from the area take the stage, showcasing the high level achieved through the music curricula implemented in local institutes. It is a celebration that blends education and performance, where young people experience the thrill of live performance before an audience, supported by their teachers and school principals.
In Boscoreale, the Music Festival is also a project of inclusion: alongside the orchestras, there is space for artistic experiences involving people with disabilities, based on the belief that music is a universal language capable of breaking down barriers. The evening weaves together classical repertoires and pop music, with moments of great popular participation where the entire audience in the amphitheatre gets involved.
The event stems from the collaboration between the Pro Loco of Boscoreale, the Municipal Administration, and local associations in the Vesuvian area, together with the network of Pro Loco from neighboring towns. It is part of the national Festa della Musica program coordinated in Italy, which in 2026 celebrated its 32nd edition with hundreds of events across the country.
Choosing the amphitheatre of the Vesuvius National Park Museum means linking the festival to the identity of the territory: music resonates in a place that tells the story of the volcano's nature and history, between Boscoreale and the municipalities of the Greater Pompeii area. For the public, it is an opportunity for a free, family-friendly, open-air evening that showcases the youth talent of Campania and strengthens the sense of community.
On June 21, 2026, the amphitheatre of the Vesuvius National Park Museum was filled with music, youth, and inclusion. The evening, part of the 'Sonorità Vesuviane' journey that animated the sites of Greater Pompeii, featured student orchestras from the territory, greeted by a large audience.
Among the most applauded moments was the medley of Michael Jackson songs performed by the orchestra of the I.C. Castaldi-Rodari of Boscoreale, which involved the entire audience. The organizers emphasized how music confirms itself as a "universal language capable of uniting institutions, schools, and local excellence".
The orchestras and groups from music-oriented schools in the Vesuvian area performed in the amphitheatre of the Vesuvius National Park Museum, including:
The evening concluded with the "Boscoreale in the World" awards and the "Kindness Prize".
