About Boscaiola Festival

In the hamlet of Bosco, on the outskirts of Perugia, the Boscaiola Festival is one of the most cherished gastronomic events of the early Umbrian summer. For ten evenings, stands offer the flavours of the woods and peasant tradition, from fresh truffle to mushrooms, from handmade gnocchi to arvoltoli, while the best dance orchestras in Umbria take turns on stage. A genuine village festival, made of good food, live music, and conviviality.

The flavours of the woods just a stone's throw from Perugia

The Boscaiola Festival is held in Bosco, a hamlet of the Municipality of Perugia nestled in the countryside northeast of the provincial capital. Organized by the local Pro Loco, it is a gastronomic festival that celebrates the products of the woods and the traditional Umbrian cuisine of the past, and which over time has grown to become one of the most attended events in the Perugia area in June.

Cuisine that smells of truffle and mushrooms

The common thread of the menu is the woods and its fruits. Among the specialties that can be enjoyed at the stands:

  • Dishes with fresh Umbrian truffle
  • Mushrooms cooked according to tradition
  • Handmade gnocchi
  • Crispy arvoltoli, the typical Umbrian fried pasta

All prepared by Pro Loco volunteers with local products, in a menu that changes nightly but remains faithful to the local peasant cuisine.

The best dance orchestras in Umbria

The Boscaiola is not just about gastronomy: every evening the stage hosts the region's most popular dance orchestras, with a tiled dance floor where people dance to liscio music until late at night. It is this combination of good food and live music that makes the festival an eagerly awaited event for the entire community of Bosco and the surrounding villages.
