About Borgo San Martino Carnival

The Borgo San Martino Carnival is the most colorful and eagerly awaited winter village festival in this small town in the Monferrato area, in the Province of Alessandria. Organized by the local Pro Loco, the Oratory, and the Municipality, it is an event designed for children and adults alike: a walking carnival parade through the village streets, followed by a party featuring a magic show, snacks, and a children's dance party at the Salone Don Milanese. An afternoon of joy, masks, and traditional treats that brings the entire community together.

The Borgo San Martino Carnival

In the heart of the Monferrato region near Alessandria, the Borgo San Martino Carnival is one of those village festivals that preserves the most authentic spirit of Piedmont: simple, inclusive, and deeply communal. Every year, in the depths of winter, this small town of just over 1,300 residents dresses up in confetti and masks to celebrate Carnival together, regardless of age.

A festival for all ages

The event is born from the collaboration between the Pro Loco, the Oratory, and the Municipality of Borgo San Martino, three entities that have always enlivened the life of the village. Everyone is invited, from children to adults of all ages, in a family-friendly atmosphere that is the true hallmark of Monferrato festivals.

The parade and the party

The heart of the event is the walking carnival parade, which starts from the Salone Don Milanese on Via XXV Aprile and winds through the village streets with masks, costumes, and plenty of music. Upon returning, the hall transforms into the venue for the great Carnival Party, featuring:

  • a magic show to enchant the little ones;
  • a snack time with traditional carnival sweets;
  • a children's dance party with music and games.

Tradition and territory

More than just an event, the Carnival represents an opportunity for gathering and collective identity for Borgo San Martino. The village, located in the Monferrato area in the Province of Alessandria and known for its castle that once housed Don Bosco's Salesian college, experiences one of its most cherished days of the year. The festival is part of the rich calendar of Piedmontese carnivals, characterized by parades, local masks, and popular traditions passed down from generation to generation.
