The authentic heart of Puglia comes alive in Minervino Murge
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Borgo in Festa is the event that transforms the historic center of Minervino Murge, a town in the Barletta-Andria-Trani (BAT) province, into a large open-air stage dedicated to Apulian folk traditions. Organized by the MAMA — Minervino Art Music Animation cultural association, the festival was born in conjunction with the National Day of Authentic Villages of Italy, of which Minervino is a member, focusing on the identity, memory, and conviviality of the village.
The heart of the event beats along Corso Alcide De Gasperi and in Piazza Emanuele De Deo, where, as evening falls, the streets come alive with a blend of the ancient and the contemporary. The public strolls among stalls featuring local products and crafts, while the route is filled with folk entertainment, dances in period costumes, circus acts, fire-breathers, and traditional games that transport both adults and children back to the atmosphere of old-fashioned village festivals.
The soundtrack of the evening is provided by the overwhelming sounds of the brass band, with the participation of local musical groups, while roving sketches and street artists accompany visitors from square to square. The evening also features a comedy show, a highly anticipated highlight for the local public, capable of attracting families and curious visitors from across the Murgian area.
Perched on the heights of the Murge, Minervino Murge is known as the "Balcony of Puglia" for its panoramic views stretching from the Ofanto valley to the Vulture. A land of cardoncello mushrooms and genuine peasant cuisine, it preserves a historic center made of alleys, churches, and evocative corners. Borgo in Festa enhances this very heritage, inviting residents and visitors to rediscover the authentic charm of one of the most characteristic villages in inland Puglia.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet announced the official dates and program for the 2026 edition of Borgo in Festa in Minervino Murge. The event, promoted by the MAMA cultural association for the National Day of Authentic Villages of Italy, brings folk dances, street performances, traditional games, and tastings of typical Murgian products to the historic center every year. We will update this page as soon as official information regarding the 2026 edition is released.
Minervino Murge can be reached by car via the SS93 and SP2 roads, a short distance from Canosa di Puglia and Andria. The nearest train stations with national connections are Barletta or Andria, from which you can continue by bus or car towards the Murgian plateau.
Admission is free. The event generally takes place in the late afternoon and evening, with entertainment starting around 7:00 PM throughout the historic center.
Comfortable clothing is recommended for walking through the village alleys. Do not miss a tasting of typical Murgian products, starting with the famous cardoncello mushroom.
