A new festival in the heart of the Picentini area

Birra in Borgo was born in 2026 in San Mango Piemonte, a small town in the province of Salerno nestled at the foot of the Picentini Mountains, in Campania. The first edition took place from June 4th to 7th, 2026, in the areas of Via Marconi and the Villa Comunale, which were transformed for four nights into a continuous path of stalls, tables, stages, and lights. The organizers' idea was as simple as it was ambitious: to create a gathering point capable of involving residents, visitors, and enthusiasts from the Picentini area, while promoting the town center.

The four-night program

The musical lineup for the first edition focused on cover bands and a deliberately diverse audience, with a different offering each night:

• Thursday, June 4th — Vascover, a tribute band dedicated to Vasco Rossi, for the event's opening.
• Friday, June 5th — Skizzekea, with their engaging Neapolitan beat.
• Saturday, June 6th — Queen of Bulsara, an energetic tribute to the legendary British band.
• Sunday, June 7th — Elena Renna & Pro Events Entertainment with a DJ set and the voice of Ricky De Sio, for the closing night.

In addition to the musical evenings, there were other performances: a concert by rapper Klein, a Latin dance show, and a fireworks display by Nelida, which lit up the sky over the village.

Craft beer and Salerno street food

The true stars of the event were the craft beers, offered in a selection varied in style and strength, from easy-drinking light beers to more complex brews. Alongside the beer stalls, the gastronomic offering was built around street food, with specialties created by well-known Salerno restaurateurs and selected local products. The result was a journey of flavors, music, and camaraderie that enlivened the town's alleys, squares, and streets until late at night.

A village to discover just a few kilometers from Salerno

San Mango Piemonte has just over 2,600 inhabitants and is located about nine kilometers from Salerno, in a scenic position among the hills rising toward the Picentini. It is a town with an agricultural tradition, featuring a network of scattered hamlets — including Monticelli, Piedimonte, Trinità, and Roscigno — and a lively calendar of local festivals, from autumn food fairs to religious celebrations. Birra in Borgo fits into this tradition with a more contemporary approach, capable of attracting the younger audience from the Salerno area.

Organizers

The event is promoted by the Associazione San Magno, with the patronage of the Municipality of San Mango Piemonte and the contribution of public and private entities. The organization is entirely volunteer-based and relies on the town's association network, as is the case for most festivals in Campanian villages.

Birra in Borgo is a village festival in the best sense of the term: simple entry, a family atmosphere, affordable prices, and the chance to spend an evening outdoors without straying too far from Salerno. For those visiting Campania in June, it can be a pleasant and non-touristy stop, also useful for discovering a corner of the Picentini often ignored by classic itineraries between the coast and archaeological sites.
