The symbolic dish of the Impero Valley in Ville San Pietro
The Berettüna Spaghetti Festival is held in Ville San Pietro, a hamlet of Borgomaro in the province of Imperia, in the heart of the Impero Valley. The star is an iconic dish: spaghetti alla Berettüna, dressed with a sauce of vegetables from local gardens, born from an '80s recipe and become the gastronomic symbol of the village.
The secret of the dish lies in its ingredients: seasonal vegetables grown in the hamlet's gardens, extra virgin olive oil from the valley, and Agnesi pasta, a historic pasta factory from Imperia. The sauce is enriched by a secret ingredient, guarded by the village women, which makes each edition of the festival a unique experience. It is an authentically zero-km offering, which enhances local products.
The festival takes place concurrently with the patronal feast of Saint Peter in Chains, combining the gastronomic dimension with the religious and popular one. Food stalls open in the evening, while the nights are enlivened by live orchestras and dancing on a large floor, in the true style of hinterland Ligurian village festivals.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Ville San Pietro, one of the oldest associations in Western Liguria (founded in 1978), the festival has been recognized as an Authentic Ligurian Event 2026. A certificate that rewards the ability of a small community to pass down its traditions and make them an occasion for hospitality and promotion of the territory.
For 2026, the Berettüna Spaghetti Festival returns to Ville San Pietro on the first weekend of August, coinciding with the patronal feast of Saint Peter in Chains.
