The end-of-winter solidarity dinner in Gossolengo for Casa Don Venturini
The Polentata Benefica della Pellegrina is an event that has become a tradition for the end of winter in Gossolengo, a municipality in the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna. It is not a classic village fair, but a charity dinner born from the desire to combine the conviviality of Emilian cuisine with a concrete gesture of solidarity towards the local community.
The heart of the evening is, of course, polenta, served hot and steaming in numerous variations. On the tables, you'll find the classic polenta with ragรน, polenta with cod, and the cheese version, in a menu that evokes the robust and genuine flavors of Piacenza's country cuisine. It is the symbolic dish of the Po Valley winter, capable of bringing young and old together around the same table.
All proceeds from the evening are donated to support the "Don Giuseppe Venturini" reception center, managed by the La Ricerca Foundation, which welcomes people with HIV-AIDS. The dinner is organized by the association La Pellegrina, a local organization active for years in hospitality initiatives and other charity events such as briscola tournaments and themed dinners. Participating in the Polentata means enjoying an evening in good company and, at the same time, contributing to a social project rooted in the Piacenza area.
More than a spectacular gastronomic event, the Polentata Benefica is a moment of community: the laden table becomes a place where families, volunteers, and supporters of the cause meet. An intimate and warm gathering, perfect for those who want to discover the most supportive and welcoming side of the Emilian province.
The 2026 edition of the Polentata Benefica della Pellegrina took place on Friday, February 13, 2026, in the Oratory of the Church of San Quintino in Gossolengo (PC). As is tradition at the end of winter, the association La Pellegrina set up a large table featuring polenta, with proceeds donated to the Casa di accoglienza Don Venturini for people with HIV-AIDS.
