An evening under the stars in Bonito

Belvedere by Night is the summer event that transforms Largo Cassito, the panoramic viewpoint in Bonito, into an open-air stage. Located in Irpinia, in the province of Avellino, Campania, this town of just over two thousand inhabitants is perched at an altitude of 490 meters, overlooking the Ufita Valley and surrounded by the peaks of the southern Apennines. Here, on a June evening, live music and street food take over the square, with the Irpinian landscape serving as a natural backdrop.

Live music, no filters

The heart of the evening is the concert. The stage is set up directly in the square, and the program focuses on local bands and tribute acts, with a repertoire designed to get audiences of all ages singing and dancing. In the 2025 edition, the Ligabue tribute band Tra palco e realtà warmed up Largo Cassito with the greatest hits of the Emilian rocker, in a pure rock'n'roll setlist that continued late into the night.

The format is typical of Irpinian village festivals: no barriers, with people walking from the historic center to gather in front of the stage or at the tables. It is not a massive festival, but a community evening curated by those who live in the village all year round.

Street food and local products

Alongside the music, there are food stalls. Street food is an integral part of Belvedere by Night: finger foods, fried specialties, sandwiches, and drinks are served in the square, with the collaboration of local agricultural businesses like the Beatrice Tino farm. It is the perfect opportunity to taste the raw ingredients of the Ufita Valley in an informal setting, ideal for an outdoor evening.

Largo Cassito, the village balcony

Largo Cassito is one of the most popular spots in Bonito: an urban terrace just a few steps from the center, from which the gaze wanders toward the Ufita hills and, on clear evenings, much further. This is where the village gathers in summer, and the event's name itself refers to this viewpoint, enjoyed after sunset. The area is flat and is described by the organizers as fully accessible.

Who is behind the event

The event is promoted by the Lo Muraglione association, a Bonito-based volunteer group active year-round in local entertainment: their initiatives also include the Pizza Festival and the promotion of the Madonna della Valle Green Path. The organization works in collaboration with local producers and businesses, and the event is featured on the Sistema Irpinia portal of the Province of Avellino.

Bonito, beyond the evening

Those arriving for the concert can take the opportunity to discover the village. Bonito is the birthplace of Salvatore Ferragamo, the shoemaker who became one of the iconic names of 20th-century Italian fashion, and it preserves a center rebuilt after the 1980 earthquake that is still rich in picturesque corners. The patron saint is Saint Bonito of Clermont, celebrated on January 15th. Surrounding the town is an agricultural territory bordering Grottaminarda, Mirabella Eclano, Melito Irpino, and Apice, located a short distance from the main roads of Irpinia.

When it takes place

Belvedere by Night takes place at the beginning of summer: the documented edition was held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, starting at 9:00 PM. For 2026, the association has not yet released official dates: it is advisable to follow the organizers' social media channels and the event calendar of the Province of Avellino to find out the date and musical program in advance.
