Four days of parades and allegorical floats in the Phlegraean Fields
The Bacoli Carnival is one of the most anticipated events of the Phlegraean winter. For four days, the town on the Gulf of Naples transforms into a large open-air stage, where allegorical floats, colorful costumes, music, and dancing travel through the different souls of the territory one after another. It is an authentic popular festival, built from the ground up thanks to the commitment of associations, neighborhood committees, and volunteers, who bring different parades to life for each district every year.
The unique feature of the Bacoli Carnival is its itinerant nature: instead of concentrating in a single center, the festival reaches all the main locations of the Municipality in turn. It starts from the Cappella district, continues in the town center overlooking the lakefront, arrives at Fusaro in Piazza Rossini, and concludes at the picturesque Port of Baia. Each stop has its own schedule and route, so that every district can experience its own day of celebration as a protagonist.
The Bacoli Carnival is designed especially for children and families. Alongside the float parades, there are markets, areas with inflatables, games, entertainment, music, and street dancing. The atmosphere is that of a genuine village festival, with confetti and streamers filling the streets, children in costume, and local associations committed to making every day a moment of community.
Located in the heart of the Phlegraean Fields, in the province of Naples and the Campania region, Bacoli is a place of extraordinary beauty, between the sea, the lakes, and the remains of ancient Roman Baiae. Experiencing the Carnival here means combining the joy of the festival with the setting of a unique landscape, where the lakefront, the Port of Baia, and the Fusaro Park frame the parades. An opportunity to discover, beyond the carnival tradition, one of the most fascinating territories of the Neapolitan gulf.
The Bacoli Carnival is promoted and organized by the Municipality of Bacoli, which includes it every year in the Metropolitan Events Calendar of the Metropolitan City of Naples. The true engine of the event, however, remains the local associative fabric: neighborhood groups, volunteers, and citizens who spend the previous months building the floats, preparing costumes, and organizing the hospitality, making the Carnival a symbol of participation and shared identity.
From February 14 to 17, 2026, the Municipality of Bacoli brought the entire territory to life with four days of celebration. Mayor Josi Gerardo Della Ragione announced four Carnival parades, highlighting the great work of local associations and volunteers. The event, included in the 2025-2026 Metropolitan Events Calendar of the Metropolitan City of Naples, brought allegorical floats, music, and dancing to each of the main town districts.
Due to an orange weather alert, some stages underwent a schedule adjustment: the parade planned in Cappella was rescheduled to ensure the safe conduct of the festival.
Due to the orange weather alert, the Cappella parade initially scheduled for Saturday, February 14, was rescheduled for Tuesday, February 17, starting at 10:30 AM.
Bacoli can be reached by car from Naples via the Tangenziale (Pozzuoli-Arco Felice exit) and the coastal road of the Phlegraean Fields. By train, it is possible to use the Cumana line (Ferrovia Cumana) to the Fusaro or Baia stations, a short distance from the parade locations.
The Carnival parades are free and open to everyone. Dates and routes may change in the event of a weather alert: it is advisable to check for updates on the official channels of the Municipality of Bacoli before setting off.
Arriving early is recommended to find parking near the routes. Comfortable clothing and costumes for children are ideal for enjoying the festival to the fullest.
