The autumn flavours of the pre-alpine village, with pumpkin, chestnuts, and porcini mushrooms
The Autumn Festival of Brinzio is the celebration that honours the flavours of the season in the small village of the Province of Varese, nestled within the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park, in Lombardy. Organised by the Pro Loco Brinzio, it traditionally takes place between late September and early October, when the forest offers its finest fruits.
The heart of the event is the abundant food stand at the Tonino Piccinelli municipal park, where typical pre-alpine autumn dishes are served: pumpkin gnocchi with porcini cream and sausage, polenta with beef stew and Brinzio chestnuts, polenta with porcini mushrooms, and fresh pasta with wild boar ragรน. These specialities are paired with craft beers from the 50&50 brewery of Varese and wines from the Varese hills.
The festival is not just about food: evenings are enlivened by live music, with bands playing rock, blues, country, and folk music. On Sundays, there's also a local producers' market, hourly guided tours of the village, and the opening of the Museum of Pre-alpine Rural Culture.
The Autumn Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover Brinzio, known as the village of chestnuts and autumn colours. Amidst the trails of Campo dei Fiori, seasonal cuisine, and rural traditions, the event organised by Pro Loco tells the story of a territory that lives in harmony with the forest and the rhythm of the seasons.
