Two days of theatre, dance, music, and contemporary art in a Maremma village
The AttraversaMenti Kiassosi Festival transforms the historic centre of Magliano in Toscana, in the province of Grosseto, into an open-air stage dedicated to the contemporary scene. Promoted by the young artist collective Officine Meraki ETS with the support of the Municipality of Magliano in Toscana and the Pro Loco, the festival was born from the idea of creating a lively and informal space for "crossing paths," where theatre, dance, music, and performing arts intertwine with the landscape and community of Maremma.
The project unites three key concepts: listening to the territory, sustainability, and discovering young artists. The squares, gardens, and corners of the village become performance venues, while the audience is invited to move from one act to another in a free and curious journey. It is not just a simple review, but an immersive experience that brings together emerging professionals, research companies, and the local inhabitants.
A medieval village surrounded by walls, ancient olive trees, and rolling hills, Magliano in Toscana is one of the jewels of the Grosseto Maremma. A few kilometres away lie the evocative ruins of the Abbey of San Bruzio, the site that hosted the project's first pilot experience. Participating in the festival also means discovering an authentic corner of Tuscany, far from the most crowded tourist routes, amidst nature, history, and hospitality.
Admission to all events is free; for some activities with limited capacity, booking is recommended.
The first true edition of the festival, the 0 edition titled "Il Matto", brought two intense days of live performances to Magliano in Toscana. The programme alternated between offerings for families, theatre marathons with emerging companies, roaming and headphone-based performances, contemporary dance, and social moments with food and music. The bill was completed by the participatory narrative project "Radici sonore" (Sound Roots), created with local secondary school students and accessible on-site via QR code.
Throughout the festival, the participatory narrative project "Radici sonore" was available, an emotional cartography of the village in the form of a podcast accessible via QR code.
By car: from Grosseto, follow the SS322 towards Scansano, then follow the signs for Magliano in Toscana. By train: Grosseto or Orbetello stations, connected to Magliano by Tiemme buses. The nearest airport is Rome Fiumicino.
All events are free to attend. Booking is recommended for the "Natura racconta" headphone performance (limited number of headsets) and for the family escape room. Info and bookings: [email protected], tel. +39 347 4252612.
The shows take place outdoors in the historic centre: comfortable shoes are recommended. The organisers invite attendees to wear a pink or fuchsia accessory, a symbolic detail of the festival.
