Three hundred stalls take over the historic center to welcome the new season
The Spring Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the tradition of the Municipality of Asti, the capital of the Piedmontese province of the same name. Together with the Carolingian Fair in May and the Autumn Fair in October, it forms the triptych of major city fairs that have marked the commercial and social life of Asti for generations.
For an entire day, the main squares and streets of the historic center turn into an immense open-air market. Thousands of locals and visitors from neighboring towns take the opportunity to stroll among the stalls, shop, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere that signals the arrival of the warmer season.
The fair winds through the monumental heart of Asti, bringing life to some of the city's iconic landmarks:
With approximately 300 stalls, the range of goods covers every sector: clothing and footwear, home linens and decor, kitchenware, flowers and plants, gifts, and curiosities. There is also a strong presence of food vendors, offering sweets and the famous porchetta sandwiches, as well as agricultural exhibitors showcasing typical products from the Asti territory.
Beyond shopping, the Spring Fair dedicates space to children with areas and entertainment designed for the little ones, while local shops remain open for the occasion. It is the perfect time to discover Asti, a city of art and the capital of Piedmontese wine, by combining a visit to the fair with a walk among the medieval palaces, towers, and cathedrals of the historic center.
The event is organized by the Consorzio Procom in collaboration with the City of Asti. It is traditionally held on the first Sunday of April, though the date may be moved forward in years when it coincides with Easter. Admission is completely free.
For the 2026 edition, the Spring Fair was brought forward to Sunday, March 29, a choice dictated by the desire not to have the event coincide with the Easter holidays. Once again this year, the historic center of Asti dressed up for the occasion with about 300 stalls distributed across Piazza Alfieri, Corso Alfieri, Corso alla Vittoria, Piazza Libertà, Largo Saracco, Via Brofferio, and Corso Dante.
Organized by the Consorzio Procom, the day featured a large open-air market with exhibitors of all kinds, food stands with sweets and porchetta sandwiches, entertainment for children, and local shops open for business. Traffic modifications were in effect starting from 5:00 AM.
From the early morning until approximately 7:00 PM, the main squares and streets of Asti's historic center hosted the fair:
Areas involved: Piazza Alfieri, Corso Alfieri, Corso alla Vittoria, Piazza Libertà, Largo Saracco, Via Brofferio, and Corso Dante.
Asti is well-connected: by car via the A21 Turin-Piacenza motorway (Asti Est or Asti Ovest exit), and by train with the Asti railway station located just a short walk from the historic center. During the fair, it is recommended to leave your car in parking lots outside the center, as many streets are closed to traffic.
On the day of the fair, from the early hours of the morning until the end of the event, parking and traffic are prohibited in Piazza Alfieri, Corso alla Vittoria, Corso Alfieri, Piazza Libertà, Via Brofferio, and Corso Dante, with alternative routes provided by the Municipality.
Free admission. The fair generally runs from the early morning until approximately 7:00 PM.
