Porcia's great summer festival, blending faith, tradition, and conviviality
When August arrives, there's only one event in Porcia that brings everyone together: the Assumption Festival, known to all as "Porcia in Festa". Born in the sixties around the devotion to the Blessed Virgin of the Assumption, it is today one of the longest-running and most attended festivals in the province of Pordenone, capable of uniting the religious dimension with the convivial spirit that has always characterized Friulian festivals.
The heart of the event is the John Paul II Pastoral Centre, next to the parish church of Saint George the Martyr. For over two weeks, the large space comes alive every evening with music, dancing, and culinary aromas, becoming a meeting point for families, groups of friends, and entire generations who gather here as a ritual.
The program is marked by the renowned musical and dancing evenings, the true soul of the festival: there's ballroom dancing with the great orchestras of the Friulian and Veneto scene, but also evenings dedicated to younger audiences, modern dance music, and shows for all ages. The large open-air dance floor has been the place where the Friulian passion for dancing has been renewed for decades.
Next to the stage, the food and wine stalls managed by parish volunteers open every evening from 7:00 PM and offer traditional Friulian dishes: grilled meats, fried fish, gnocchi, frico, and homemade desserts, accompanied by local wines. It's the tried-and-tested formula of village festivals, where the proceeds support parish activities and the oratory.
The festival keeps its religious roots alive: August 15th, the solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, is the central moment, with liturgical celebrations and a procession that brings the community of Porcia together around its patron saint. Lotteries, charity raffles, a youth area, and initiatives for children complete a schedule designed to truly involve everyone.
Located a few kilometers from Pordenone, Porcia preserves a charming historic center with its castle and clock tower. The festival is the ideal opportunity to discover this corner of Western Friuli, where the Municipality of Porcia and the Parish of Saint George collaborate to keep one of the most beloved summer festivals on the Destra Tagliamento alive.
The 2026 Assumption Festival, now in its 63rd edition, takes place from August 2nd to 18th at the John Paul II Pastoral Centre in Porcia. The proven formula is confirmed: dancing evenings with liscio orchestras, food and wine stalls open every evening from 7:00 PM, a youth area, lottery, and charity raffle.
The central dates — August 6th, 9th, 13th, and 16th — feature the most anticipated musical evenings, while on August 15th, the community gathers for celebrations of the Blessed Virgin Mary, patron saint of the festival.
The 2026 Assumption Festival spans over two weeks, with food and wine stalls opening every evening from 7:00 PM.
The detailed musical program, including the names of the orchestras, will be published on the website of the Parish of Saint George the Martyr and on the official Facebook page in the weeks preceding the festival. The evening program may be subject to change.
