Angiari celebrates the asparagus of Basso Veronese with food and walks
The Asparagus Festival is the celebration that Angiari, a municipality in the Veronese plain southeast of Verona, dedicates to its most beloved spring product. The asparagus of Basso Veronese, grown in the sandy soils along the Adige River, is celebrated here with a festival that attracts good food enthusiasts from all over the area.
The heart of the event are the food stalls, where Veronese asparagus is served in numerous preparations, from the classic asparagus risotto to traditional Venetian dishes. It's an opportunity to taste a vegetable that is an integral part of the region's agricultural identity.
The festival is not just about food: the program includes walks through the rural landscape along the Adige River, with visits to historic villas in the area such as Villa Soave and Villa Fantoni. A way to combine culinary delights with the discovery of the Basso Veronese territory, amidst cultivated fields and Venetian architecture.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Angiari, part of the Consorzio Pro Loco Basso Veronese, the festival is a deeply rooted event in the life of the town, bringing together residents and visitors every spring around local flavors and traditions.
The 2026 Asparagus Festival takes place in Angiari from May 28 to June 1, with food stalls dedicated to the asparagus of Basso Veronese. Preceding the festival, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, a walk of about 6.5 km along the Adige River is scheduled, starting at 3:30 PM and including a visit to Villa Soave and Villa Fantoni.
The detailed program (evening music, entertainment, and initiatives) will be finalized by the Pro Loco of Angiari closer to the event.
Detailed times and further events will be published by the Pro Loco of Angiari.
