Artestate, the cultural heart of summer in Casagiove

Artestate is the historic cultural festival of the Municipality of Casagiove, located in the heart of the province of Caserta, in Campania. Established in the early 1990s, the event has spanned over three decades, becoming a true landmark for the Caserta area: in 2025, it reached the milestone of its 34th edition, confirming its status as one of the most deeply rooted and beloved summer events in the region.

The Bourbon Military Quarter, a unique setting

The natural stage for the festival is the Bourbon Military Quarter, one of the most striking monuments in Casagiove. This ancient 18th-century structure, commissioned by the Bourbons, opens its doors to the public during the September evenings, offering a setting of rare beauty where history, architecture, and live performance converge. The open-air auditorium, set up in the historic courtyard, provides spectators with an intimate and cozy atmosphere, perfect for late summer evenings.

Theatre, music, and comedy

Artestate offers a multidisciplinary programme that blends theatre, music, comedy, and cabaret, with a special focus on the great Neapolitan tradition. Over the years, numerous well-known faces from the Neapolitan and national entertainment scene have graced the stage. The 2025 edition featured, among others:

• Antonella Morea with the show Mamma. Piccole tragedie minimali, on the opening night;
• a tribute to Domenico Modugno with Io Mimmo M, a sentimental and musical journey through the artistic legacy of the great singer-songwriter;
• Gianfranco and Massimiliano Gallo in the comedy Ti ho sposato per ignoranza, written and directed by Gianfranco Gallo;
• Rosalia Porcaro with Semp'essa, a comic show on the vices and virtues of society.

The Fratelli De Rege Prize

A distinctive element of the festival is the Fratelli De Rege Prize, an award dedicated to Italian comedy in memory of the famous duo. Each year, the prize is awarded to performers who have left their mark on the history of comic theatre and cinema: in 2025, the Special Prize was awarded to Lello Arena, while previous editions have honoured artists such as Anna Mazzamauro.

A historic event for the Caserta region

Promoted by the municipal administration of Casagiove and supported by the Campania Region, Artestate represents much more than just a series of shows: it is a cultural hub that enhances the city's historical heritage and enlivens the summer with quality offerings open to the entire community.
