The Befana arrives in Thiene

Every January 6th, on Epiphany day, the historic center of Thiene (province of Vicenza) comes alive with "Arriva la Stria", the Befana festival that cheerfully closes the Christmas period. "Stria" is the Venetian dialect term for the witch-Befana, a traditional figure who brings sweets and coal to children on January 6th.

A festival for families

The event, designed especially for families and children, transforms Piazza Ferrarin into a place for meeting, games, and collective memory. In the afternoon, "Aspettando la Stria" (Waiting for the Stria) begins, with entertainment dedicated to the little ones, accompanied by the distribution of hot drinks, mulled wine, and panettone for all participants. The highlight is the arrival of the Stria, who enchants young and old and renews a rite that has accompanied the end of the Christmas holidays for generations.

Tradition and community

The initiative is organized by Pro Loco Thiene, with the patronage of the Municipality, and confirms the focus on enhancing local traditions and community gathering moments. A simple and heartfelt event that closes the holiday calendar and opens the new year with conviviality.
