The summer festival of Arpino, the city of Cicero

The Arpino Summer Festival is the summer event series that brings Arpino to life every year, one of the most evocative villages in the province of Frosinone, in the heart of the Ciociaria region. As the birthplace of Marcus Tullius Cicero and the painter Giuseppe Cesari, known as Cavalier d'Arpino, Arpino offers an exceptional setting: ancient polygonal walls, stone alleys, churches, and historic palaces that become the natural stage for a packed calendar of events during the summer.
Promoted by the Pro Loco Arpino Association with the patronage of the Municipality, the festival is not a single event but a true container that distributes its initiatives throughout the summer evenings, with its core in the month of August. The program gathers diverse genres and audiences, enhancing every corner of the historic center.
The beauty of the Arpino Summer Festival is its widespread nature: events follow one another among squares, streets, and courtyards of historic residences, inviting the public to discover the urban fabric of Arpino while strolling from one appointment to another. From the lower part of the town up to the acropolis of Civitavecchia, with its famous pointed arch gate and imposing cyclopean walls, every evening becomes an opportunity to experience the village in a festive atmosphere.
The festival is part of a rich calendar of events that accompanies the entire beautiful season in Arpino: from patronal feasts to religious and civil anniversaries in August, up to the historic Gonfalone, the folkloric joust between the city's districts held in the days following Ferragosto. The Arpino Summer Festival represents the glue that holds these traditions together, offering residents and tourists a lively and participatory summer, dedicated to culture, conviviality, and Ciociarian hospitality.
Participating in the Arpino Summer Festival means combining the discovery of an art village with the joy of summer evenings: music under the stars, local flavors, crafts, and popular traditions make this festival an unmissable appointment for those visiting the province of Frosinone and the lesser-known but surprising Lazio region.
The Pro Loco Arpino has obtained the patronage of the Municipality for the 2026 edition of the Arpino Summer Festival, kicking off the organization of the new summer program. This year as well, the event will offer concerts, outdoor performances, exhibitions, craft and local product showcases, as well as gastronomic and sports appointments, distributed throughout the summer evenings with the usual focus in the month of August.
The detailed program is currently being defined: the events will be held, as per tradition, among the squares and streets of Arpino's historic center.
By car: Arpino can be reached from the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, taking the Frosinone or Ceprano-Sora exit, and continuing along the Sora-Frosinone expressway. By train: the nearest station is Arpino (Roccasecca-Avezzano line) or Frosinone, with bus connections to the center. By plane: reference airports are Rome Fiumicino and Rome Ciampino.
Events take place in the squares and streets of the historic center of Arpino, mainly during the evenings of August. Many appointments in the squares have free admission.
