The allegorical float parade in the heart of the Caudine Valley
The Arienzo Carnival has become one of the most anticipated events on the winter calendar in the Municipality of Arienzo, a small town in the province of Caserta nestled in the Caudine area, at the gateway to the Sannio region. Launched just a few years ago by the municipal administration and local associations, it has quickly transformed into a major event attracting thousands of visitors from across Campania.
The heart of the festival is the grand allegorical float parade, featuring authentic papier-mรขchรฉ masterpieces crafted with passion by local artisans. The floats, some measuring over sixteen meters in length, depict cartoon characters and famous faces from television, set against a backdrop of vibrant colors and moving choreography. The procession winds through the town center accompanied by music, masks, and entertainment, creating a joyful atmosphere that delights both adults and children.
Beyond the floats, the Arienzo Carnival offers a rich entertainment program: the colorful Brazilian Show with dancers and South American-inspired choreography, musical caravans playing folk hits, and DJ sets in the town's squares and parks. There is no shortage of street food surprises, with the distribution of sausages, meatballs, and local specialties that warm up the parade atmosphere. The day traditionally concludes with a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the sky over Arienzo.
The Carnival is organized by the Municipality of Arienzo together with the Pro Loco and numerous local associations, who spend months building the floats and setting up themed street lighting. It is a deeply identity-driven celebration where the Caudine community gathers to share its story, passing down the popular tradition of the Campanian Carnival to the younger generations.
The event takes place in the historic center of Arienzo, typically on Shrove Tuesday, the peak of the carnival season. Admission is free: simply come to the town and let yourself be carried away by the colors, music, and energy of one of the most beloved festivals in the Suessola Valley.
The fifth edition of the Arienzo Carnival took place on February 17, 2026, on Shrove Tuesday, confirming the growth of the event in the Caserta municipality. The absolute stars were the thirteen allegorical floats, some over sixteen meters long, featuring reproductions of cartoon and television characters.
The festival combined the parade with the grand Brazilian Show, musical caravans playing folk hits, and DJ sets in the town's squares and parks, along a route decorated with themed lighting. The parade started from Via Pasquale Scamperti in the afternoon and concluded in the evening with an impressive fireworks display.
Organized by the Municipality of Arienzo with the Pro Loco, the Sangue Roscianese association, the L'Arca Association, and Nando's World Animation.
Arienzo is located in the province of Caserta, along the Via Appia. By car, it can be reached via the A1 motorway (Caserta Sud or Santa Maria Capua Vetere exit) heading towards the Caudine area, or via the A30. By train, the reference station is Maddaloni-Valle di Suessola, connected to the regional network.
Participation in the parade and events is free and open to everyone. Traffic restrictions will be in place in the center during the day; it is recommended to follow the organizers' signs and arrive early.
An event suitable for families and children. Wear comfortable clothing and, for the little ones, don't forget a carnival mask.
