Crafts, local flavors, and gospel music in Piazza di Corte, in the heart of the Castelli Romani

Throughout December, the Piazza di Corte in Ariccia, one of the most famous urban spaces in the Castelli Romani, becomes the beating heart of the festive season. Designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in front of the monumental Palazzo Chigi, the square provides a unique Baroque backdrop for the Christmas Market, which draws locals and visitors from across the Castelli region every year.
Wooden chalets line the square, offering decorations, handmade artifacts, and gift ideas, alongside food and wine stalls that showcase the area's finest products. As Ariccia is the gastronomic capital of the Castelli Romani, the famous PGI porchetta is a must-try, taking center stage alongside winter dishes, Christmas sweets, and local new wine. The market is a unique regional event that blends craftsmanship with culinary traditions in one immersive experience.
The program goes beyond Christmas shopping: the square comes alive with gospel concerts and choirs, live performances, and entertainment designed especially for children, with the ever-present Santa Claus. It is the perfect opportunity to soak up the festive atmosphere in a stunning setting, surrounded by lights, music, and the typical scents of the season.
The town of Ariccia, located in the Province of Rome and the heart of the Lazio Region, is one of the most beloved destinations in the Castelli Romani, famous for its fraschette (traditional taverns), its porchetta, and its Baroque architectural heritage. The Christmas Market in Piazza di Corte strengthens the bond between the community and its historic center, supporting local businesses while offering visitors an extra reason to explore the village during the holiday weeks.
Promoted by the Musica per Tutti association with the patronage of the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Ariccia, the event is free to enter and combines tradition, local heritage, and the promotion of small local businesses. It is an appointment that unites the authenticity of a Christmas market with the charm of one of the most beautiful squares in the Castelli Romani.
The Ariccia Christmas Market is expected to return to enliven the spectacular Piazza di Corte in December 2026. Official dates and the detailed program for this edition have not yet been published at the time of writing.
The Christmas Market is held in Piazza di Corte, in the historic center of Ariccia (Province of Rome, Lazio), in front of Palazzo Chigi.
By car: From Rome, take the Via Appia (SS7) towards Ariccia; the famous Ariccia Bridge leads directly to the historic center. By public transport: From the Anagnina Metro A station in Rome, Cotral buses are available heading towards the Castelli Romani; the nearest train station is in Albano Laziale.
Admission is free. Opening hours are announced annually by the organizers; for the 2025 edition, the market was open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
