A month of markets, lights, and shows in the heart of Aprilia
Every December, the Aprilia Christmas lights up Aprilia, the young and vibrant city in the province of Latina, Lazio. For an entire month, Piazza Roma and the surrounding streets are adorned with festive lights, a grand tree, and Santa's Cottage, while the facade of the San Michele Arcangelo church comes alive with architectural video projections. It is a celebration that accompanies the locals from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception through to Epiphany, with a widespread program that reaches neighborhoods and outlying districts.
The heart of the event lies in the craft and antique markets, which bring Piazza Roma to life every Sunday with stalls featuring handmade creations, gift ideas, and unique curiosities. There are also dedicated street food areas, offering local products, festive sweets, and tastings that invite visitors to stroll through the lights at their leisure.
The calendar is packed with live music: tribute concerts, choral performances, the town band, and aerial dance shows turn the squares into open-air stages. Among the most beloved events are the Santa Claus Vespa parade, the city nativity scene exhibition hosted in the Sala Manzù of the municipal library, and the various nativity scenes set up throughout the neighborhoods. The festivities culminate with the New Year's Eve party in the square and, on January 6th, the traditional Befana bonfire and the distribution of stockings to children.
The Aprilia Christmas is promoted by the City of Aprilia together with numerous local associations, which organize dozens of initiatives every year. The result is a popular, free program designed for families, showcasing the identity of a city that loves to gather in its squares during the holidays.
The 2025-2026 Aprilia Christmas, supported by the City of Aprilia with an investment of approximately 14,000 euros and the collaboration of local associations, offered over twenty events from December 6th to January 6th. Piazza Roma served as the hub of the celebration, featuring illuminations, a large tree, Santa's Cottage, background music, and architectural video projections on the San Michele Arcangelo church. The Sunday craft and antique markets were complemented by concerts, dance performances, street food, and the city nativity scene exhibition in the Sala Manzù.
Street food areas, live music, and entertainment were active in Piazza Roma during the main weekends and holidays of the period.
