The inaugural stage amidst the blooming narcissi of Pian delle Nere, at an altitude of 1,341 metres
Among the many scattered stages of Apolide Drops, the one at Pian delle Nere, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Nigra in the Province of Turin, has always been the appointment that inaugurates the season. At an altitude of 1,341 metres, at the foot of the Canavese mountains, the event chooses a precise moment of the year: the narcissus bloom, which paints the plateaus white and transforms the landscape into a unique setting for listening to live music outdoors.
Apolide Drops is the "satellite format" of the Apolide Festival, established in 2022 and organised by the To Locals ETS association. Its philosophy is that of zero-impact culture, capable of inhabiting nature without consuming it. The festival is divided into three strands: Aria (high-altitude events, in the midst of woods and mountains), Terra (initiatives in the villages of the Canavese), and Scena (theatre as a space for civic debate). The Castelnuovo Nigra stage belongs fully to the Aria soul, which invites artists and the public to breathe in the mountain air.
The day is not just a concert: it is a slow and immersive experience. You reach the venue via an independent walk or the municipal shuttle, and moments of well-being, such as Pranayama sessions—mindful breathing practised while immersed in nature—revolve around the music. The main meeting, in the Between Music and Words format, focuses on a protagonist of Italian songwriting, while the Canavese Tourist Consortium and the Young Canavese Winemakers curate the local food and wine offerings.
Castelnuovo Nigra is a small mountain village that, thanks to Apolide Drops, becomes a meeting point for music lovers, hikers, and curious visitors of the Valle Sacra for one day. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a little-known corner of the Canavese and the Piedmontese Alps, far from the major tourist circuits, while experiencing a cultural event that enhances local communities, the biodiversity of Pian delle Nere, and the mountain landscape.
The fifth edition of Apolide Drops opened at Pian delle Nere, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Nigra, with a day entirely dedicated to the encounter between music and nature. The protagonist was Cristina Donà, one of the most recognisable voices of Italian songwriting, in the Between Music and Words format. The day, free but with mandatory reservation, was completely sold out for both the mindful breathing session and the musical encounter, confirming the strong appeal of this zero-impact Canavese festival. The event took place in collaboration with the Fonema Festival.
During the day, food and wine stands curated by the Canavese Tourist Consortium and the Young Canavese Winemakers. Event realised in collaboration with the Fonema Festival.
The Between Music and Words encounter with Cristina Donà, accompanied by Pranayama sessions and the unique setting of the blooming narcissi of Pian delle Nere, at an altitude of 1,341 metres in the Canavese.
Pian delle Nere is located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Nigra (TO), at an altitude of approximately 1,341 metres in the Canavese region. It can be reached by car up to the permitted point, followed by an independent walk towards the venue. The municipality of Castelnuovo Nigra also provides a periodic shuttle service for a fee on-site.
Admission is free but requires mandatory reservation: places are limited and sell out quickly, both for the musical encounter and the Pranayama sessions. It is advisable to book well in advance via the official website tolocals.com/apolide-drops.
As this is a high-altitude, outdoor event, layered clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and a water bottle are recommended. Food and wine options curated by Canavese producers are available on-site.
