The Antica Sagra dell'Abbazia is the most anticipated summer event in Badia Calavena, a municipality in Lessinia in the province of Verona. Organized by the Pro Loco Badia Calavena, the sagra unfolds over four days in mid-June filled with music, gastronomy, and community spirit, summarized by the dialectal slogan «la festa non l'è mai finìa».
A table, between mountain pasture and sea
The cuisine is one of the strong points: returning are the gnocchi di malga (mountain pasture gnocchi), the dish that the Pro Loco brings every year to Soave Taste, while Monday is dedicated to seafood paella by reservation, a great success in past editions. Unmissable is the panino «col botto» (sandwich «with a bang»), generous and tasty, with sausage, peppers, onion, cheese, and sauces.
Music and volunteering
The evenings alternate DJ sets and concerts, with a program that holds some novelties each year. Behind the festival is the work of the volunteers of the Pro Loco, the true soul of the event. For those visiting Lessinia, the Sagra dell'Abbazia is an opportunity to experience the hospitality of a Veronese mountain village, between gastronomic tradition and fun for all ages.

From June 12 to 15, 2026, Badia Calavena hosts the four days of the Antica Sagra dell'Abbazia, organized by the Pro Loco. Music, food stands, and conviviality alternate in a program that blends tradition and novelty, featuring the debut of a tribute to Queen and the return of beloved dishes: malga gnocchi, seafood paella, and the "col botto" sandwich.

How to get there
Badia Calavena can be reached by car from Verona by going up the Val d'Illasi (SP10) towards Lessinia. From the A4 motorway, exit Verona Est, continue in the direction of Tregnago and Badia Calavena.
